In October 2007, Gentleshaw Wildlife centre was awarded a grant of £7,350 to fund the complete replacement and upgrade of the paths around the centre in order to provide greater ease of access for disabled and elderly visitors.

Under terms of the grant, the centre has to provide an additional £1,000 towards the total cost of the refurbishment. The work is expected to take place within the first couple of weeks of December 2007.

The Awards For All Awards for All England is supported by the Arts Council England, the Big Lottery Fund, the Heritage Lottery Fund and Sport England.

It awards grants of between £300 and £10,000 for people to take part in art, sport, heritage and community activities, and projects that promote education, the environment and health in the local community.
